Kiawah Island
Draped in lush, wild greenery, Kiawah Island is a secluded slice of coastline and personal sanctuary for around 1,600 residents lucky enough to live here. It's famous for the Kiawah Island Golf Resort, a sprawling compound of villas, attractions, and golf courses. Its public beach, Kiawah Beachwalker Park, was named one of the nation's Top 10 Beaches in 2020 by Dr. Beach. Conde Nast Traveler has also recognized Kiawah Island many times over the years, but most recently as one of the Top 10 Islands in the US in 2020. For outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers, this seaside community is hard to beat.
Long before it was a residential hideaway and tourism darling, Kiawah Island was a remote coastal habitat and cattle farming site. Development didn't start in earnest until the late 1970s. Because of this, most Kiawah Island houses for sale are relatively new and boast modern amenities and comforts.
Beachside dwellings aren't hard to find here, though their price points are much higher than their counterparts closer to the Kiawah River. Those searching for Kiawah Island real estate will find everything from one-bedroom condos to spacious masterpieces with all the bells and whistles.
