West Ashley (Outside I-526)
The West Ashley "Outside of Interstate 526" area comprises a more rural and less densely populated area, but still offers exceptional amenities. Hwy 17 is the main artery to the west out of Charleston and is intersected by Interstate 526, and living in West Ashley provides easy access to work and leisure activities, such as boating, bird watching, historic plantation tours, biking trails, and much more. Middleton Plantation, Drayton Hall, and Magnolia Plantation are the most popular tourist destinations in the area. Only minutes to the Charleston International Airport, North Charleston, inner West Ashley, and the outlying areas, such as Stono Ferry Golf Links, Johns Island, and Wadmalaw. Several new West Ashley developments feature moderately priced homes in large subdivisions including Carolina Bay, Grand Oaks, and the more established neighborhood of Shadowmoss.
