With warmer weather abounding in the Lowcountry, spring into these exciting St. Patrick’s Day plans! From Savannah’s iconic parade to block parties and 5Ks, this event lineup has something for everyone.

Savannah

Experience the quintessential St. Patrick’s Day celebration in Savannah, a tradition dating back to 1813 and drawing over half a million visitors, making it the second-largest St. Patrick’s Day festivity globally. Festivities start at least two weeks before March 17th, featuring cultural events, religious ceremonies, and the highlight: the iconic St. Patrick’s Day Parade, boasting over 350 units winding through historic streets. Beyond the parade, revelers can enjoy diverse events such as the lively River Street celebration, family-friendly activities like the Greening of the Fountain, and religious ceremonies like the Saint Patrick’s Day Mass. Get ready to immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of Savannah’s St. Patrick’s Day extravaganza. 

Hilton Head Island

Since its inception in 1983, the Hilton Head Island St. Patrick’s Day Parade has become a cherished tradition, earning the distinction of South Carolina’s oldest parade. Drawing crowds of up to 25,000 amidst the island’s residents, the event features a vibrant procession along Pope Avenue. Spectators can witness the array of floats, marching bands, and community representatives, including the esteemed U.S. Marine Corps Band from Parris Island, showcasing the spirit of camaraderie and celebration.

Bluffton

Get ready to immerse yourself in St. Patrick’s Day festivities in Bluffton! On March 16th, lace up your running shoes for the Bluffton St. Paddy’s Day 5K at Martin Family Park, followed by a block party at Oyster Factory Park. The block party, presented by Indy Karting & Amusement, will feature live music, refreshments, and even a dog costume contest. Later, witness the vibrant Bluffton St. Patrick’s Golf Cart Parade, commencing from Old Town Bluffton to Oyster Factory Park, where participants can showcase their creativity with Irish-themed decorations.

Charleston

The 24th annual Charleston St. Patrick’s Day Parade commences at the corner of King and Radcliffe Streets, proceeding down King Street to Broad Street, ending at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. The event features marching bands, dancers, and military units. It concludes with raising the Irish flag at City Hall, followed by festivities at various Irish restaurants and pubs such as The Brick, Dunleavy’s Irish Pub, and Tommy Condon’s Irish Pub.
