WADMALAW ISLAND REAL ESTATE
Wadmalaw Island is a small community located off of Johns Island about 45 minutes from downtown Charleston. A beloved retreat in both winter and summer, Wadmalaw Island was first discovered in early colonial times and grew into a planting community by the late 19th century. In fact, the Charleston Tea Plantation is located on the island and is the last working tea plantation in the country.
When it comes to Wadmalaw Island real estate, you can find a variety of home styles, from beautiful two-story homes to historic properties to luxurious estates along the Wadmalaw River. The island is just 42 square miles in area, making it a quaint place to live, but with plenty to do nearby.
A Quaint Slice of South Carolina
Home to the town of Rockville, Wadmalaw Island still hosts the annual Rockville regatta, which is a popular event each summer. Also on the island is the Deep Water Vineyard, Irvin-House Vineyards, Firefly Distillery, Bears Bluff Natural Fish Hatchery, the Ambrose Family Farm, and water-related activities like boat tours, kayaking, swimming, fishing, and more.
