Located about 45-55 minutes north west of Charleston, Summerville is a charming historic community. Offering shopping on Main Street and Old trolley Road, the area is one of the fastest growing areas of Greater Charleston. Known as the Flowertown, Summerville maintains much of its Victorian character and boasts some of the most beautiful botanical displays in the area. Old town Summerville is on the National Register of Historic Places and boasts a charming Main Street strip with a lovely community theatre. Sumerville was first inhabited in the late 18th century as planters along the Ashley River sought respite from the summer heat and mosquitoes in this small community. Since the late 19th Century, when Summerville’s air quality was determined by the International Congress of Physicians to be restorative for lung diseases and maladies, the area has maintained a strong tourist industry year round.
